I shot the images for the 2007 Florida State League prospect card set this season. Most leagues depend on individual clubs to send them images from their team sets then the league set consists of those images. All cards in this year's FSL prospect card set are unique because none appear in team sets, we didn't have to wait on the individual clubs to submit images before the card set went to press and sets will be on sale at FSL team souvenir shops before most of them have their own team sets. I also got some free advertising too because Photo by Jerry Hale Photography appears on the back side of every card ;) . Here are scans of the front sides of the 24 card set.

Great stuff as always Jerry. I know you put a lot of hard work into these and a lot of miles on the car and it shows. Does the MWL do these card sets too? Let's hope Smardzija gets ready in a hurry the Cubs are falling apart up here.

MWL does do a top prospect set, and relies on the team photogs as Jerry mentioned (and man, do some of those photos...umm, well you know - lets just say they aren't good!). Almost every league except the GCL/AZL/Northwest/Pioneer do top prospect sets.
This may be one of the best looking sets I've seen Jerry, very good work. I'm hoping to have a vast majority of the NYP myself, but the travel is difficult for those far eastern teams that are 8-9 hours away that get guys late. Being short season it's such a tight schedule!
BTW, check out my latest thread ;) nothing spectacular photo wise, but you'll see why I like it!

How cool is that... thousands of kids running around with little Jerry originals. You know when I was a kid and collected cards, I never gave a single thought to who took the pictures. But I sure do remember studying each and every one. Cheers amigo!

Outstanding photos Jerry...not surprising! Certainly the best looking top prospects set I have seen. Thanks for posting the cards.

Thanks for the comments folks and for taking the time to post them.
Chris - Yup, lots of miles driven -- 2,053 in three weeks to be exact. Anticipating the probable starters was perhaps the biggest challenge and believe it or not I figured wrong at only one game. The project was a bit more than just taking the photos but it was probably worth the extra work in the long run because I made some good contacts. As for Samardzija, fans are more than a bit disappointed with his performance so far -- he hasn't won a game yet!
Mike - I hope maybe this set will result in a bit more business from the teams in the league. As you said, some team photographers do rather disappointing work. I think that's a bit sad myself because it'll be the only baseball card some of the guys will ever have.
Mark - Kids often ask me if I'm a photographer or who I'm taking pictures for. One night a kid asked me if I was taking pictures for baseball cards. When I told him that I was he ran around pointing me out to all his buddies -- that brought back the same memories you spoke of and a smile.
Brian - See what I mean about your Maybin photo.

I think you need to take Mrs. Jerry out to a nice dinner and remind her who you are. ;) Tell her I said hello.

Awesome deal! I'll have to buy a set when I hit a couple of FSL games in July!

Ah yes, I remember doing the same...used to go to the local card shop and go through the books buying singles as a lad, knew every card I already had - which was thousands upon thousands of cards - heck I ha over 5,000 autographed cards alone back then (still have 'em to). Nowadays it's fun to see the kids, or adults, getting the cards I took photos for signed like Jerry I'm sure see's around. Always a good in with a player if I need a portrait and that fan has the card, just make some comment as he signs it and good to go :)
Jerry, tried to get in with a few more teams last year but they weren't biting as most go with "photogs" (using that term loosely) that don't charge a penny and then wonder why all the photos are blurry and out of focus. Weird how that works, get what you pay for. Leaving this Saturday for the midwest, and back to shooting some card sets when I get back - can't wait.
btw, who manufactured the card set (choice, grandstand?) and did you get your hands on a bunch?

I've seen him play in a couple games and I've got a few shots -- no really good face shots though :( .

Grandstand and yes, Len gave me some sets. We need to convince Kristi that she should do likewise -- at least give us cards of our stuff like JMI does. TriStar's second set is due out any day and she's working on another set that goes to print this weekend.
