I agree... I would like to say about 24 hours, however, as antsy as we all get, I would say 6 hours would be a better, more agreeable, time. If someone posts a guess, they should be checking back to see if they've won, and if someone posts a photo they should be checking to verify guesses given. And barring someone going to bed, which should be announced, I vote for 6 hours, 10 hours if one is sleeping...

My $0.02...

thomascanty

I think six hours is cutting it a little short. People don't always announce when they're logging out to sleep. I'd say 10 or 12 hours would probably be a better compromise, though people certainly shouldn't make a habit of waiting that long to post a picture or verify guesses.

tsk1979

Naah, though the public transportation system I am talking about is owned by the same guys who own BART :)
If you look at the pic, Meritt is sort of a city reservoir, however the lake I posted is one huge baby.
The bad things in 1960s should be a good clue, mix that with wine/california and you can nail it down pretty well.

Simple rules:
limit photo size to 800mp max

if no response after 12 hours, game is open for anyone to post a new pic

photos should have a reasonable amount of identifiable content. Avoid pictures of the bottom side of a picnic table.

photos should be from a public location. No way can we guess the location of a picture of the inside of a dog house!

Have fun, keep it light!

tomd covered it when he started the thread. 12 hours seems reasonable.

If the 12 hour "no post" is too short, in other words if 24 hours is more reasonable, we can certainly change that, and I'll change this in the first posting (rules). I took that time limit from the super macro guessing game. We have had similar discussions there.
Any thoughts? 12, 24 hour, 18, other?

thomascanty
9th of July 2007 (Mon), 09:05
I think 12 is perfect. That allows for work, sleep and different time zones, etc. Everyone should be able to check in at least every 12 hours. And, really, if you know you aren't going to be able to check back in for some time, you shouldn't be guessing or posting a picture, anyway.

Heh, heh, it's about 45 minutes from me and it was a beautiful February day, cold, real cold, but beautiful.

I still really liked your photo, Becky. I showed it to my husband and he thought it was cool as well! We are partial to rays.

Those Google skills are fantastic. I've been on google web and images and can't find a thing. Tried snow sculpture ray, snow manta ray, etc and nothing.

No, not Morocco

Thanks! Google - "snow sculptures" lake - the 1st result was my 1st guess, but then the 3rd result shows the U.S. National Snow Sculpting Competition in Lake Geneva, WI. ;)

Russia is transcontinental, i.e is part of Both Europe and Asia.
It does not play in the Asian games, and is considered more a part of Europe than Asia.

I am aware of that. I thought it might be in the Asian part (ie a guess!).

His line "continent is half the game" Steered me to more obscure places. I am sure its Not North America, Asia or Europe.
The only other place can be South America, and hunting around in his gallery suggest Buenos Aires, Argentina

I'm a "her" ;) My comment was made because the photo looked European to me, and now I've knocked out that entire continent. BTW, I hid the gallery on my site that has the answer. :D

Thanks! The weather was calm, but we would have liked more sunny days. Most of our photos look so dreary!
