Original Post - 6:15PM EST Sunday...

First Guess from Roy... 5:46 AM EST Monday
Is this a statue of St Francis of Assisi?

Kwils69 Responds to Roy... 6:35 AM EST Monday
Yes it is

Second Guess from Roy... 7:46 AM EST Monday
In Europe?

My Guess... 8:28 AM EST Monday
Statue of St. Assisi at the Cathedral in Rio.

If you are counting Roy's guess, we're in trouble as there are surely thousands of statues of St. Francis of Assisi in the world. In fact, I was so sure that this was St. Francis of Assisi, that I didn't even bother posting that as a guess.

I've been searching for it. And I found it. And if I'm wrong, there are two statures exactly like this with the exact same building in the background! I'm just waiting for confirmation...

SoccerRef - that's why I was puzzled when Tom said it had been guessed on the previous page. I didn't regard my guess of 'a statue of St Francis' as a complete enough one to count. I would assume that you are the winner, as and when Kevin confirms it.

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a WINNER!!

SmartUSA was here in Columbus, OH this past weekend offering test drives. I drove the blue car. There were actually eight of them at one point, but I figured that would be a TOTAL give away, so I waited until there were only three to snap the shot. I should have thought about the parking space markings, I think that got folks into the right country right away. I figured there would be several posts before we even got into the right country! Oh, Well.

Congratulations Randy... Just out of curiosity, How did you figure it out?

I assumed UK had similar markings.

But when adding the info of the RESERVED markings, drive on left and the "new" look of the cars, I thought US might be possible.

Do they require the third brake light in the UK?

His post seems to indicate that to him at least, the street markings were the clue that got him to actually guess the US.

Of course, some close reading of your initial guess, and my response should have nailed the US... You weren't supposed to bring the US into the equation so early...

I'll admit... I PS'd the flag slightly, as it is potentially a dead giveaway. However, if one has ever been here they should recognize it, with or without the flag.

The flag has significance in this locale, and I took this photo because I was lucky to see it.;)

About 10 minutes after I got this photo, he left. His driver came out of the parking garage, drove to the main door, the Prince and another fellow got in the car, and literally as the car came through the gates, someone appeared on the roof and within 30 seconds of his departure, the flag was lowered!

No to the last four guesses. I'm not trying to mess with you SoccerRef, although you may think so when you see the answer!

As the original photo was posted three hours ago, and has a great many guesses, here is the first raft of clues. First, the name of this place does not include the word desert. Tomd thought the break in the land might have been a railway - it isn't but, if my memory serves me right, what causes the break is man-made (although the dunes are not).

(Anyway, what are you doing guessing SoccerRef - I thought you said you were going to do some work:D )

I did, and it gave me a headache.:( Sometimes I think I work with a bunch o' bloomin' idiots! I have answered the same question six times today. I think sometimes people who have been told "No", think that if they just keep asking long enough the answer will somehow change.

I about yelled at one of our VPs in a meeting an hour ago. "No". It's a simple friggin word for crying out loud.

Anyway, enough Ranting... Somebody post. I have to work on a personal project when I leave the office in 45 minutes, and I don't want to "P&R" (Post and Run), so somebody who can answer guesses post a photo. I'll check back later tonight.

Thanks Again, 'tis been fun playing!:D

SoccerRef, you already guess correctly with Patton Valley ;-)

Ducko, I was typing a second guess when Roy responded... OK, I was padding my bet, what can I say!

well done socceRef....

Thanks Kevin.

Come On Ayman, It's FUN work...

I agree it can be a bit laborious, but I like it when I take a photo that stumps you all for a while.

And Ducko, it will be fun, that's why I am going to work on it. I have GOT to get my mind off of my work, or my brain is simply going to bust! I am going to go home and work on my son's soccer team website. Work I enjoy doing because I enjoy it, not because I get paid to do it.

I don't think it fair for me to post two in a row, so would someone else like to post something?

It's not the bench that's supposed to be the item of interest:D

Luss, Scotland?

No, it's not in Scotland.

ok, I have 10 minutes left...

From this thread I have learned that Roy likes to travel. When traveling he likes to visit places of historical or natural significance. He tends to like to visit sites that most tourists would avoid, not because they are not worthy, but because most travelers aren't willing to work at their travel plans, most of us just tend to go "vacationing". Roy tends to plan his trips, and intentionally seeks out the interesting "road less traveled".

With that in mind (by the way Roy, please correct any incorrect observations/assumptions)...

This is the home of someone whose name we will recognize. Pure guess... Ireland.

SoccerRef - I am very impressed - you have me spot on (you're not a psychologist or profiler are you?;) ) and are obviously very perceptive. Bearing all that in mind, it grieves me to say that your guess is wrong and it's not Ireland (everything else is right).
