Does anyone know of a good camera store in the Portland, OR area? I have some time tomorrow morning and would like to go check out some of the "L" series lenses in person. Do the Ritz camera stores carry these?
Thanks,
Tim

Pro Photo Supply. I highly recommend it.
1112 NW 19th Avenue
503-241-1112
I don't work there or have any affiliation, but I buy there. Their prices are competitive with outfits like B&H, and the staff full of knowledge.

Pro Photo is THE place to go in Portland. Those other two stores are of Radio Shack quality and mentality.

I would second Greg's recommendation, Pro Photo Supply is
an excellent shop...
They also have a very well stocked Rental Department,
I've taken out "L" lenses on several occasions - when you rent
an item on a Friday you get Saturday and Sunday for free.

And I just saw on their Website if you rent after 3PM on Friday you get it at 50% off (for the month of May)! It is all starting to come together now, my wife and kids are going back up to our place in Kent, WA on Friday and leaving me in Portland all alone for the entire weekend. I have been looking for something to do and my Fuji FinePix S602Z is starting to annoy me. Maybe a rental is in order :D .

There ya go! Yeah, I saw that the other day when I was over there buying a new strap for the MKII. Too bad I won't have any time to take them up on that offer. Have fun, it's a cool store. Not big, but the people there are awesome.
Oh yeah. The parking sucks!

Ahh, yes, Jim,
I guess my recommendation was off. I probably shouldn't have recommended the Shutterbug just because they have treated me so fairly during our 25 years of doing business with each other. I have bought a little bit of Canon from them over the years and was always pleased with their service. But I always knew what I wanted and if they didn't have it in stock they would order it in for me or pull it from one of their other stores.
So Pro Photo Supply, in your case, would be the best place to go Tim. :)
I have purchased items from Pro Photo too, but it seemed/seems like I don't dress well enough for their store (hickory shirt with hacked off sleeves is pretty well my "sunday" best). Maybe I don't try hard enough to impress them or something.
And I agree, the parking at Pro Photo sucks!
