These are some of the shots I have been taking off and on when these birds visit my yard. I can't predict when they will come and I suspect there are some nests nearby that are taking up more of their time than a few weeks ago when they seemed to be around more often.
All taken with the 30D , 400 F5.6 and 580EX for fill and most are close to full frame and the first image was done using the Canon 1.4xTC added and manually focused. Thanks for looking! Regards!

Beautiful shots of a beautiful bird, very sharp with great details and poses. Thanks for including every aspect of this species, in what looks to be different stages of plummage...excellent series as always!:)

Excellent series Gary. They are really nice birds. I just saw my male for the first time in a week, just before full dark. The female is here every day. Let's hope they bring the kids by for pics when they fledge. :)

Extraordinary series here. I have been tracking a male in our area and he is extremely skittish. The females have been easier to photograph. But these are truly wonderful shots and I envy these and if you don't mind me saying...a little peeved. Nice work.

Gary beautiful series. We had a couple of males for only a few days in early spring and haven't seen them since. They are a really pretty bird.
