Trying to master fill flash....did I get the balance right here? I'm please with it, but would rather not use flash where possible.

look okay to me. i use flash on all my shots, i feel naked without it. i usually set my flash at 1 or 2 stops less then the ambient light and put the diffuser on.
I like flash, but i dont like flash when u can tell im using it.

looks ok to me. Maybe brighten the background a bit by opening up the aperture next time? The flash exposure looks good. The stofen does just about nothing outdoors without a bounce source. It'll only eat up your battery power. I'd lose it.

Boy, harsh light one in white dress, the other in a black tux. It doesn't get tougher than this. I do agree about increasing the exposure to get the background lighter.
I personally would have increased the FEC a touch to get the shadow off the face of the woman at probably the sacrifice of losing detail off the dress as face is more important to me. I also hear that average flash metering in custom features rather than E-TTL is better for shooting subjects wearing white dresses (I read this in pop photo, so take their advice with a big grain of salt).
