Just about to lay £120 on a CPL but can anyone tell me the difference between the:
Hoya Super HMC Pro-1 CPL
and
Hoya Super HMC Pro-1 Digital CPL?
I have read about the "wide-band" which apparently reduces the tendency of the image to give a blue cast to white. Does this apply to them both?

Hoya claims (not backed up by any objective evidence of real benefit) is that the Digital have certain features that are more suitable to dealing with extra reflections due to the sensor's shine...black edging on the filter, for example. Until they publish objective improvements, "It's just marketing" is my attitude to the 'digital' labelling, like 'digital' stereo cables!

Hmmm, well they're the same price so I might as well fall for their advertising eh?

Go to their web site www.hoyafilter.com and decide for yourself.

Looks like the Digital one is the one which is "wide band", so I've ordered it from http://www.morrisphoto.co.uk :D

I kind of agree with Wilt, the SHMC Pro 1 and Pro 1 Digital seem to be the same except for the words which don't quantify anything.
There does seem to be a difference between SHMC and SHMC Pro 1 Digital or otherwise in various areas like; easy clean top coating, thin design, black edged glass etc.
They are good filters however I use them myself.

I was very impressed with their UV's of which I bought three. So I thought I'd give their CPL a go after a disappointing session on a beach with my standard CPL which gave a funny colour cast to the white sand.
