Over the years I have owned many cameras and my best results were recently with the P&S 35mm. I never could afford to take enough pictures to even learn how to use the SLR's I had. I ended up useing the Auto mode all the time and then only took a few pic's. 3 years ago I got a Nikon 885 digital and it took great pic's. BUT, it had a very slow shutter, makeing it hard to get action shots and a 35mm wide lens so wide shots weren't there. THEN I decided to try the 10D Digital SLR. (only after the 300D wasn't available) and the camera store folks talked me out of the Nikon D100. :D WOW WOW WOW I have taken more pic's in 4 months(2600) than I took in my entire 62 previous years  The neat thing is if I mess up I don't have to pay for development and printing to find out. I find out usually in a few hours! I am learning how to use the camera as it was meant to be used. Who would have guessed I could do it :D :D :D

I love Digital :D :D :D

Now to the point... Almost all I know I learned from you guys/girls here :D I got a long ways to go but I have come a long way. Now I got a great hobby for my upcoming retirement!!

Thank you

JZ

Apparently Digital loves you too, Jerry. You've done some beautiful work with your camera.

I also truly appreciate the medium---it allows for experimentation at no risk. The idea that I can try something and see the result in minutes is still just sinking in, but I see a growth curve starting here that might ultimately lead to pictures worthy of sharing someday. I hope so, anyway.

I don't know Jerry - I think you take a lot of good pics, and on your own to boot. Your flowers kick butt.

OK, OK, so maybe some of us influenced you into getting the 100-400... :-)

Thanks for the comment Scottes,, :? I haven't taken even 1 flower pic with the 100-400 :D I got the 100mm 2.8 macro :D :D :D :D :D Makes a fantastic close up lens. I can carry one lens and go from macro to infinity WOW. Love that lens almost as, nah, equal to the 100-400 :D :D Now that 100-400 is a bird lens from way back :D :D Maybe one day I can get some bird pic's like yours.

I'm thinking that the end of September is about right, my friend. When the dates get closer and I do some more investigation I'll be setting aside a week of vacation right around then. I can think of a half-dozen great bird migration sites...

Of course if I show you where all the birds are then you're not allowed to take better pictures than me...

Actually if you time it right you could have a hell of a drive up here. Cape May, Hawk Mountain...

I actually went down to the Social Security office this morning and applied. They think I might have a problem because I made too much money last year (more than $11,000----a fortune). I guess they want to see people starve for a year or two before they start to pay them.

I'm glad you got your camera.... your flower shots are just stunning. But the squirrel saga is one of my favs.

ROFLMAO - I'm waiting for update #4... It's like waiting for "The Empire Strikes Back" for crying out loud.

Why don't y'all come on down to our part of the country... the Salton Sea. There are literally MILLIONS of birds that migrate there - and it's FREE.

Belmondo, Ballen Photo & I wouldn't mind that commute. (I think) ;-)

I agree with you Jerry, the DSLR is a great way to take photos. With the film SLR I would only use it to shoot vacations. Now I shoot all kinds of stuff. It has gotten me off my butt and back out into nature. Hey, I didn't know there were so many great places so close to me. :)

Couldn't agree more. Since october last year when I got my 300D I have shot more than 2700 photos. With film I think I have shot around 1000 since 1996 when I bought my first Canon SLR.

Shooting 2700 photos with film would have cost me around $1200 ! or just a little less than the camera cost in Denmark.
