I live in Florida and love to take pics of nature and landscapes, especially at the beach or in/near the water. Does anyone recommend a waterproof/sandproof case for my Canon EOS 30D and preferrably a 70-300mm lens? Thanks.

I can recommend and vouch for the LowePro Micro-Trekker as being water resistant and somewhat sand resistant (if you keep it closed, but as to water and sand proof, you would have to look at something like an underwater housing to be water proof. Don't know if they have a lens cover that works with a telephoto though.

A little silicon glue around the camera seams goes a long way. And don't worry about the 70-300, it's a bad lens anyways. ;)

There are some pretty good pictures taken with that ''bad lens'', some of them posted here.

do you mean to store it in when not in use or to cover it when it's in use?

I'd take a look at the Ewa Marine line of plastic bags. Looks like they'd be perfect for keeping sand, or salt spray off the camera.

are you trying to store the camera in a bag? if so, check out lowepro's dryzone series (waterproof camera backpacks) or pelican boxes (hard plastic waterproof cases for any type of gear you want)

or are you trying to shoot pictures in/near the water? if so, the cheap (and riskier solution) is an ewa-marine back...basically a glorified and thicker ziplok bag. The much better solution is to use a Ikelite housing or aquatech housing....both of which cost $1200+ just for the camera housing, not including the housing for the lens.
