What is the pros/cons between each of these? I have found out that the EZ was discontinued in 1989 (I think) and does not support remote / slave usages. The EZ has a digital LCD display on the back where the EX does not. They both have the same rotation capabilities. I have seen the EZ go for around $100 & the EX goes for about double that. Is the EZ good enough to use on a 10D or should I spend the extra money on the EX?

Thanks,
Scot

From what I understand, the EZ flashes don't support E-TTL which is what your 10D uses. In short you can only use it manual mode.

Belmondo es correcto! Only EX series Canon Flashes, and 3rd party flashes dedicated to Canon ETTL (Sigma 500 Super DG) will work in ETTL. EZ will not, Manual only.

I found somewhere that the EZ flash hase ATTL, not ETTL.

ATTL (Advanced Through the lens), the predecessor to ETTL flash exposure control is available with EZ series speedlites. Like ETTL, ATTL reads through the lens and concentrates its sensitivity on the area of the picture covered by the active focusing point. Unlike ETTL, ATTL controls flash exposure with a dedicated sensor that reads flash illumination reflected from the focal plane during exposure. ATTL also sues a preflash, but unlike ETTL, the preflash is used to calculate an aperture value based on the distance that light must travel from the flash to the subject. When set for Program mode, the camera compares the distance based aperture value to the ambient based aperture data calculated by the cameras metering system, and selects the smaller aperture value of the tow. This preflash operation is designed to endure accurate exposure of the subject in any lighting condition.
