Today I got to see my first lacrosse game up close and personal, as a guest photographer for one of the teams. It's an awesome sport to watch. If you like hockey, you will love lacrosse too, as it has many of the same elements (including fighting and HARD checking).

Unfortunately I missed the one toe-to-toe punch up that went on in the next field, but I did get this picture which made me rather happy.

I should have more to follow

Nice timing and DOF on this capture. I played in HS and loved every minute.

This was the "other" sport I was able to play briefly up in Canada years ago when I would travel there for hockey camp. They never told us the rules and just let us go and whack the crap out of the opponent.

Now we are getting to shoot it ourselves.

I am wishing to try and get shots like this but the referees don't allow us to shoot anywhere behind the end line. The closest we can get is right at the corners. So far most of the goal shots have come from the slot area.

I think you did a great job here getting the action with the shooter, ball and goalie all in one.

Question...is this HS league play or just summer fun leagues? I know that MALA (our local HS league) rules state that players can't use hockey helmits. Plus it gets me why more Lacrosse goalies don't use a Blocker (Waffle in my days) like this one is here to block shots.

Keep em' coming!

This was a high school tournament. It's interesting how little equipment the goalies wear compared to the "pro" indoor leagues!

Shin guards?? That goalie must get major flack from his fellow players.

P.S. Nice shot.

Indoor and Field lacrosse is different especially for the goalie field lacrosse the goalies where almost no padding compared to indoor box lacrosse

Great shot! I really like the way the netting obscures the left 3rd of the frame, leaving the focus point to draw your eye into the shot. Nicely done.......
