I saw Fat Albert and clicked...what are the flames coming out for?

The flames are from the JATO (Jet Assisted Take Off) pack. A way to get a large airframe into the air from a short runway.

That is a real nice shot. I was at Airfest 2007 also, and from the looks of that picture, it seems like you were at the east end of the runway. It was my first "serious" attempt of shooting flying aircraft. Many of my pics came out fine, but the haze and humidity bothered me, but I was able to fix a lot of that in PS.

Would you be so kind to give me a few pointers:
Did you shoot in M, and how did you meter?
Did you have to do any PP?

The new J model C-130's wont need the Jato bottles to achieve the same objective, and also the place that made the bottles dosent make them anymore so when they are gone thats it from what Ive heard. Thank you for the kind comments.

Something about that photo makes the plane look like a plastic model with some PS's flames coming from the boostpacks. Nice shot....very eerie!
