I posted this yesterday in the share photos forum but realized that I should have placed it here, sorry!

I would appreciate comments on this. It was taken in Portland at a Catholic church.

Thanks,
Tim

There is so much going on in this picture that you do not know where to look.
I am missing a subject standing out in the image.
So what was your subject? The gate, the crusifix, the plant in the pot? IMO it would be better to focus on one single subject and keep the rest of the picture a bit blurred.

Thanks for the comments, I tend to agree with you. I am planning on going back there this afternoon or tomorrow and will re-shoot with your suggestions in mind.

Thanks,
Tim

In addition to the previous comments, a couple thoughts on possible compositons.

The linear design of the gate against the angled tile beyond has some interesting possibilities.

Stepping through the gate to about the middle of the tile diamond and taking the garden shot beyond framed by the brick columns would be a nice symetrical, gateway shot.
