I was cruising around Michaels last night looking to ideas on drop-bottom cheap ideas for home photography stuff and saw some display boards. These things are only $4.99 and are 36"H X 48W and come in several colors...red, blue, white...

Has anyone ever used these as reflectors? I know they wouldn't be equal to professional reflectors, but possibly a good step in the right direction?

Display Board (corrugated center board) and X-ACTO® Display Board Premium (foam center board) consist of three, folded panels. These boards are easy to set up and stand up on their own. The folded sizes of the boards are 36" H x 24"W (36"H x 48" unfolded). The boards are available in a wide range of colors for various science fair projects.

Hmm, this looks like cardboard in the middle and foam-core for the sides. You might like just plain old foam-core. They'll have it at Michael's. You might not want 3 sides reflecting light - that's 2 pieces you might not have control over. I use regular foam-core board and tape them up (blue painter's tape) and I've also made "stands" from wire coat hangers. Cut the hanger twice below the twist, so you have a big U. Bend it into shape and stick the 2 cut ends into the foam-core. Doesn't work on a full-sized board...
