Finally got to do my first wedding last Sunday, After months on here learning all I can before the big day and going to courses etc I get to shoot my own wedding and Well what can I say? I was a little dissapointed with my work but I am always hard on myself.
This wedding was held in London at the Ice bar in Heddon Street. The whole room was full of ice and there was just one window with a wall of ice in front of it. The reception was down stairs and there were no windows at all.
To make it really hard there were chocolate coloured walls and ceilings and I had to use two flashes, Canon 580Ex's slaved to bring more light into the room.
It was also very cramped in there so was forced to use my 16-35mm for the groups shots and thats why I have fat people on the outside :-(

Bit of a challenge really, How do you think I did?
Quite a lot of photos so I posted the link instead.

Hi there

I'll take a look @ the photos, but I find that you get a better response if you post a few from the wedding (maybe your favs) and then post a link to a gallery.

Nice job for your first go. You did well for what you had to work with.

Looks like it was very difficult lighting conditions. If I may suggest, I would say that you need to drag the shutter a bit more, I find that you got the "black backgrond" look in quite a few of them.

Also, I really don't like the group shots with the 16-35, the people on the end are VERY distorted. Were you not able to back up a lot?

That is the thing with weddings - they throw all these crazy situations your way and you're expected to produce a perfect product. For the most part, I think you did very well for a first wedding :)

nice shots but a few tips.

On some you are gettin flash fall off badly, faces bright but feet dark, so u have to either get a diffuser on the flash to bounce the light all over the place or maybe bounce it off the roof to make it look like natural light. Some flashes have a built in fill flash on the flashes so when they bounce, u dont get the shadows under the eyes.

if bouncing flash it outta question ie, colored roof, then try to raise your iso so you can shoot a more "no flash" type of shots.

all in all, some really great shots that cover the whole thing nicely! keep up the good work and we sure will be seeing more of your shots here!!

I doubt you are going to encounter such hard conditions on a regular basis.

Still bagged yourself a few nice shots.

To everyone that has commented.... My thanks for the encouraging words. I dont feel half as bad now. When I look back it was a huge task to take on for a first wedding but the way I am looking at it is "Well I did my toughest wedding first"
There was no dancing at the reception as there was no room for it I guess.
