My first Landscape shots, what do you think?

This is the first time I went looking for a landscape shot. I tried 2. Here they are. :? I can't decide which one I like best so here are both. :D

What do you guys think?

This is a beautiful place. Your perspective and composition makes me want to know it, like a postcard should.

I think the colors are better in the second one (at least to me). and also the perspective. Seems you moved to the right on that one. The pavilion / gazebo is more to the center but it still works better for me.

If this your start at landscape photography, I'm looking forward to the next ones.

Frank,, NO.. Yes.. anyhow I am trying to retire so I am spending less and less time working and more playing. Dale if this is your back yard give me a address I'm moving in next to you :D :D

#1 or #2..... tough choice.
I really like #1 because of the plants in the foreground and the side (more is better :))
I like #2 because of the clear reflections in the water.....

The second one has better color balance and higher dinamic range. It's my favorite.
#1 is too contrasty and has a bluish-magenta shade.
#2 for sure!

I believe #1 is better compositionally, rule of thirds, as well as showing us foreground, middle ground and background for the 3D effect.


#2 has better color balance.
#2 the shore line is too close to the center of the image as is the pagoda..

Both very nice images Jerry, keep up the good work. This is a very good start....

Nice shots Jerry. The second one is fantastic. I really like the foreground foliage in the first one, but the bank beside the bush on the left is a bit too distracting. If it weren't for that I think the first one would be really great too.

Both are quite beautiful. I like number one for the composition.

The first I like for the composition but the second is the one I prefer for al the rest.
Are both right out of your camera?

Two beautiful shots Jerry.
I looked at both for awhile. I kept going back to number 1. I like the forground flora and the position of the structure. The only suggestion I might make would be to clone out that bright branch just to the right of center, above the bright green tree in the far shore. It kept attracting my eye.

What an amazing first landscape photo! If I had started there, I would certainly be in a better place today!

I agree with most of the posts here. The first photo is more complete due to the inclusion of the foreground. The second photo just feels incomplete and somewhat empty because there is nothing in the foreground. The white balance in the first photo is off. If you could fix this it would really make for a terrific photo.
