AF beam without using flash on 430ex?

is there a way i can achieve this? i want to be able to use the light on the 430ex to help focus, but not set off the flash.

Should be a Cf to turn off the flash fire but keep AF beam. RTM?

There's a custom function on some cameras to prevent the flash from firing, but I don't think it's available on the Rebel series models.
