The weekend turned in to a lot longer and a lot harder than expected. I was going to have a quiet weekend at home coding a few sites. Instead I find myself running around a festival site, being called for photo calls (I now know why I need a flash gun in my bag) and walking around with camera in hand wherever I went.

I am so tired I could honestly cry.

Loads of very interesting bands. One to look out for in particular is Afro Celtic Sound. DANG! they were good. They closed the festival with an extremely energetic show.

I have just done the first run through of 1008 pics from yesterday and boiled them down to little over 350. Now starts the fine tuning and final selection.

The highlight for me was walking out of the media tent late last night, throwing a quick glance over my shoulder out the back entrance of it and staring in to the side of a red painted lorry. I know that shade of red like the back of my hand. Dropped my bags in a chair and walked straight out. Poked my head in to the back of it just to hear my name being shouted from up the ramp on the stage. The lorry came from a company that got me started in the business many many years ago. Last I worked for them was three years ago.

I have got to get back on the road again.

Sat yapping with a guy on the saturday about Canon equipment and he said he just bought a 5D. Asked him which magazine he was there for and he said he drove a truck for one of the bands. Not the red company but a different company. Apparently the business is screaming for tour drivers right now. It is extremely tempting to send a CV around to various companies and see if anyone bites.

Right, better get started on the PPing of the images from the weekend.

If that makes you cry I won't go into my three project weekend, but I did get a call on my cell from Al Wilson (black singer/songwriter ... see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Wilson_%28singer%29 who I shot at a Supper Club event a few weeks ago) as I drove into the casino for a VIP Supper Club shoot with The Coasters (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Coasters) because he saw me on TV: ShoBox The New Generation (boxing) waving my camera around like a lunatic at the side of the mat. Somehow I have become the semi-official photographer/press liaison and we ran out of slots on the mat for togs so I had one sharing the Ring Girl/cameraman steps! Had a writer who wanted to sit where he could get power for his laptop! And they didn't bring the lighting truss down after the boxing so I had to wait until the next event (to which I was driving when Al called) to get my 5D in remote configuration back to download boxing images.

Unless you have to deliver the next day - you'll be fine. You'll have a laugh and a half. It was a blast but the lack of sleep, the beeing on my feet most of the time and all was the killer.

I'd do it again tonight if the phone rang, that is for sure. Absolutely zero regrets.

Aha, Next day?

I WISH

My art-ed will want a same day turn around for the website. Im used to the festival experience, being on my feet and very little sleep. Im not used to the working at my laptop almost round the clock to get the photos processed.

I'll need a better laptop too!

Considering the equipment you have (the glass more than anything) and your very good eye for what you do - your PPing will be minimal compared to mine.

I need better glass.
