We've just finished conducting a fauna survey of a native bush remnant in Queensland and found this delightful billabong nestled in amongst Eucalypts and Paperbark trees. It was surprisingly peaceful (seeing it is around 500 metres from the highway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast), and I tried to take a snapshot of the way it made me feel...... rested and well, content :) Hope you all feel the same way.
I know that the sun is causing an almighty flare behind the left tree, but that's the way it looked, so that's the way I left it.

Your pictures are lovely Rel. Well done.
Very unusual to make strong vertical compositions of what one imagines to be a horizontal subject like a billabong, but you have succeeded admirably.
The feeling of peace is very serene here and it seems far removed from the world of freeways and rushing traffic just half a Km away.
Our sincere thanks to you and to people like you for working to preserve these few remaining natural areas against the relentless urban sprawl.
:-)

Well I have mixed emotions here! First, I share the quiet beauty of the place, knowing from my own related efforts that this small sized post -- when compared to a full sized screen saver -- is always a bit of a disappointment. These are rough, but lovely shots. The pad-leaves carry the tale. On the other hand, crocodile Dundee has briefed me on the crawlers that may also share this “solitude”…so… you will appreciate why I have not urged you to re-post the larger image.

Thank you Eland & Howie for your comments. It is amazing how much your comments mean to me, and spur me on to take more photos, and try to 'get the composition right', or at least convey in a photo the mood of the moment!! Eland, as always, thank you for your support and encouragement - you've no idea how much it means to me.
Howie, you just made me laugh - unfortunately (or fortunately?) we don't have the type of 'crawlies' you refer to - only cute and cuddlies, insects (also cute and cuddly) and snakes (very cute and cudly) lol. Just after I took this shot, I had to attend a call of nature - while I was in an un-lady like pose, a mob of 7 kangaroos decided to jump through, and decided to stop and check out what the 'weird human' was doing..... I couldn't stop laughing, and wasn't in a position to take a photo - maybe next time :) (of the kangaroos that is lol)
