I was designing my logo for photography and design but I dont know what logo to choose, and also what name at first I used only Y PHOTOGRAPHY AND DESING but I work in my entire name YANIRE YANEZ PHOTOGRAPHY. I want to transmit a fresh idea of photography but with the professionalism that requires, I do weddings, portrait and product photos.
Can you tell me what do you think about the logos and which one do you prefer?
All comments are welcome.

I like the round logo at the bottom---can you incorporate your name into this one?
FYI: You've spelled Design wrong on all but the round one.

I like any but the round one, as I pointed out before you need simplicity and you have that in all except the round one. The color schemes could use some work next. Try to rework the first with the blue color scheme. The brown and green just dont work.

I like the first one and the round one. More contrasting colors might look better, IMO.

Actually Yes I want to put some image behind the lettering, I was thinking to use some black and white images or a contrast image too.

Thanks for your votes I choose the first one, following yours recomendations
I worked in the first one with the blue colors, I thought the brown-green was serious, elegant and contrast but some people think is a little sad. so there is the combination.
any comments are welcome

I'm no logo/design expert, but you want something that can be used effectively on virtually any medium...ie as a website logo, business card, watermark, etc with minimal modification (if any).

Yes Im gonna work in differents aplications, like business card, publicity, website etc.
I think I have to do more votings cuz the opinions are too divided between the first one and the round of the bottom the same thing with the color.
Thanks.

Much better, now work on the top white Y in the box because it is being bled into by the background color. You need to have the edges sharper and smoother. I recommend redoing it from scratch rather than just change the colors which is what it looks like you did. I know these are not final and I hope you understand that it is all constructive criticism here.

I kind of like the second one but i like the round one best it catches your eye quicker maybe try it in the blue. with different color in the back.her's something that might help you out.
Colors reflect a certain personality and often have a profound impact on viewers. For example, blue stands for sky, heaven, and water. It reflects freedom and peace, but it can also mean cold, protective, authoritative or technical. Red is the color of blood, it reflects courage, romance, but it also means hot, dynamic, vital, commanding or alert. Darkness will always suggest danger and mystery. Dark blue portrays comfort and relaxation, and yellow tends to create a feeling of irritation. When choosing your color scheme (or the templates you want to use), keep in mind the personality you wish to express. Do you want to portray a sleek, elegant image? Try using black, silver, and other dark colors. Do you want to come across and fun, dynamic, and funky? If so, try using bright and vibrant colors. Be creative.
Colors can be perceived by people as different moods and emotions. In general, the colors red, orange, and yellow are "exciting," or warm colors and the colors purple, blue, and green are "calming," or cool colors.
The first thing you should do is decide which style your document should reflect. And with style comes typefaces and colors. Color plays a major part in all this by symbolizing a certain mood. Does your style need cold or warm colors? Figure 2-15 illustrates the range of what's possible.
Figure 2-15: Warm (exciting) and cool (calm) colors.
The meaning of color
Colors also have several meanings, most of which are closely connected to each other. A good starting point to choosing your color scheme is to determine the effect and mood you want to create, with careful use of color. Here are some of the underlying meanings for colors in the Western world (note that other cultures have different associations.)
Blue is one of the most used colors in design. This is because it is a safe color; the moods it conveys are mostly good. Blue can represent peace, tranquility, reliability, trust, honesty, cleanliness, clarity. It is proven to increase energy. However it can also represent depression (e.g., feeling blue).
Green has always been associated with nature. It also can represent environment, health, harmony, luck, and youth. However, in some places it can represent distrust and danger. Also, hunter green is the money color.
Yellow is a very happy, cheerful color. It can represent joy, happiness, the sun, remembrance and friendship. Negative associations with yellow are cowardice and illness.
Orange can convey warmth, energy, change and health. Orange is a good attention-grabber when used correctly.
Red often means danger, caution, and blood. Good associations include love, warmth, passion, heat, joy and power. (Ever notice that restaurants use red a lot? It makes you hungry by increasing your body's metabolism.) Red is a good attention-grabber, perhaps because people associate danger and the color red.
Purple is mysterious, creative color, It can also be associated with royalty, and precious, sacred and exotic items.
Pink is a very feminine, calming color; it's used in prisons to control violent behavior. Pink denotes sweet, nice, romance, playful, and delicate. Pink is also associated with babies and childhood.
Gold typically denotes riches and extravagance; it's bright and traditional
Lavender conjures associations with grace and elegance; it's a delicate, feminine choice.
Turquoise is sophisticated and retro.
Neutral colors
Neutral colors help to put the focus on other colors; they can also tone down colors that might otherwise be overpowering on their own.
Black, for example, is conservative, mysterious, and sophisticated. Black can convey power, darkness, and evil. However, it is a useful color (like gray) for making things stand out from a page. Black along with red is an example of this. A black page with a red item will make the red stand out more.
Gray: Formal, conservative, sophisticated
Silver: Sleek, glamorous, rich
White: Purity, innocence, softness, goodness. It can also represent coldness and winter.
Ivory: Quiet, pleasant, understated elegance
Brown: Earthiness, wholesomeness, simplicity, friendliness
Beige: Conservative, relaxing

The meaning of color
Thank you for that quick reference! I had one of these colour definitions before, but lost it in paperwork. Printed this one and taped it up by the computer. :) Cheers!~

I like the first one the best. The last one (round) says, "yphotography" and I see that as "WhyPhotography. It makes you seem unsure about photography.
As for color, I really like the brown and green, but I don't think it works for what you want to do. Brown and green are very earthy and I could see an outdoor enthusiast using them. Blue and black are good, but the blue you chose seems more beachy and casual.
Just my 2 cents.

i prefer the First one. i like the round one also but i think you would be able to use the first with with more things (ie. business cards, website, etc) the brown and green look very nice to me, very soothing colors as opposed to the blue and white which is a little too strong for my tastes.

would choose the first, however I would also use the circle one as well, for my photo watermarks and such. You can have recognition between the two if designed right.
The first one will be hard to use for a photo watermark or logo stamp. But the circle could be awkward on letterhead, business cards, etc.
I would work on both of those, as they were also the 2 most chosen on the forum so far, and try to get them integrated together. Perhaps just the circle with 2 y's - to represent your name, without the "yphotography" part. However, use the same 2 y's with your full name and such for the larger logo for cards, correspondence, etc.
As for color - it's all a matter of opinion and like/dislike. But you do want to consider what will work well on a range of surfaces, such as photos if you'll use it as a logo stamp.

Thanks for the comments and is a wonderful idea to use the round in photo watermarks its a nice tip because the first one (that actually is the one I preffer), doesnt work for watermarks, I preffer the first one because I think has armony, composicion, the information clear about the name and what we do, The colors in my opinion are with a touch of freshness and friendliness (like minimemories says) with all your opinions I think I can take a desicion. Thank you guys.

I like what you have chosen, but prefer the green & brown version. It will stand out and be easier to read.

The one I like the most is the round one, but I'd try to remove the circle to keep it simple.
The problem you might have with the top three are the Y's with the jagged edges. They will start to seem a little awkward and similate soft edges once you start to print them on smaller formats such as business cards.
As far as the colors to me the tealish blue isn't all that appealing. The greens you chose are better IMO, but i'd maybe fine tune them to get that perfect green.
