Hello,

I understand my trusty Powershot S50 is discontinued now(hate how quickly canon discontinues items so quick). I have a issue with mine and have the extended warranty plan with Best Buy. Anyone dealt with them before? From what I understand they pretty much just give you a new one off the shelf rather than send it in for repair. Mine is no longer carried however. If so, do they give you a comparable price model or a comparable feature model? What is a comparable model these days? I have not kept up on new cameras.. Paid 600 for my S50 when it came out..

I've dealt with Best Buy regarding an extended service plan, and you are right - they offered me another model in that price range. The PowerShot S60 (5MP) should be out really soon, so you may want to wait until Best Buy carries that model. It has a MSRP of less than $500, so it may be worth looking into.

Yeah, my service plan is 4 years for Camera >$500. I think I may wait for the S60 to come out to see what they do. I have minor issue with the casing coming apart. Not from being dropped (that I know of) but still this should be covered under a 100 dollar service plan. If not, I am sure I could find out something else that could be wrong with it. ;)

Thanks!
