i like the colored one better. birthday partys are all about color and light and fun!

second one just seems to dark for my tastes.

I think a lot agree with you about the color. I do as well to an extent. I just got back into photography after about 16 maybe 17 years. I use to go to the lab where my mother worked and sit with her boss and play in the darkroom while he developed black and whites from the weddings he shot so I have a soft side for the black and white and sepia conversions. Wasn't too fond of the conversion after looking at it side by side with the color. Thanks for the input though.

#1 what is this shadow on the upper left part?
#2 too soft (maybe out of focus?)

1. The room was totally dark with the exception of the candle. I also added a vignette to the photo to draw the eyes closer to the main subject.
2. This was converted and then I added a bit of noise to the photo.

Yeah, it is quite a big gap. I "lost" mine when I was in Iraq back in 90-91. Guess they didn't like some of the pictures I was taking.

Yeah...lol. He didn't even eat the cake and ice cream is his favorite.
