I know, I know, he is almost dead center. No matter how it was cropped, this was almost always the end result. I guess on days like this though, you take what you can get. I need a 8000mm lens so that I may actually be able to get a candid of him. Then again, he would probably still hear me unzip the bag and stop for the photo. On the bright side, if I really need them to be quiet, I can tell them to stand there for the camera and tell him and his brother that the timer is on and just leave them there for a couple of hours...may work.

Thanks for the input. And thanks Strmrdr...looking at your photos, I would certainly agree that this shot would fit into your style of scrapbook shot. Thanks for the time consuming three word posts that you randomly insert on numerous pictures. To the others that have replied, thanks a lot.
Howitz...Thanks as always, you have given me some real food for thought on a lot of pics and I can certainly see some improvement with my pictures.

Ask him a question after you frame it and focus it... then snap when he isn't posing. Look at the pretty birdie! If this is an attempt at a portrait, and not a candid, then the background is a little busy, but it's a nice pic.

great way to shoot kids is get them bored of your camera lol. if u always taking shots of them, after awhile, they quit noticing you and u can get all the candids u want.
or, more fun, get them interested in the shots u take. try take picture, then show them the preview screen. then tell them, wow nice shot but i bet it would come out neater if u do this or that. then shoot it and show them again. they get kick outta it and your shots will get better.
my daughter is hard to get good shots of. she always has wrong look on or forced smiles. so i play with her with the camera and got some really cute shots by having her try different poses or faces (funny face, ugly face etc)
