Im looking into purchasing a new D60 to take racing photos with mostly drag racing and pro offroad. What lens would be best for me i have been looking at the 28-300mm range lens anybody tried any of these and what are the focus speeds like you dont have much time when photographing cars at 200 mph. Would i be better off with 2 lens to get this range? If So what ones I am new at all of this and have been reading anything i can get my hands on.
Thanks in advance for any advice

If you want to capture high speed cars you WILL need a fast lens. The 28-300, will potentially work, but if you are able to capture the image it will be very soft.
Options:
Canon 70-200 f4
Canon 70-200 f2.8 IS
Sigma EX 70-200 f2.8
Canon 100-400 IS
Canon 200mm f.28
The ultra zooms are not the best choice as they give up quality for the range. Look for two shorter focal length ranges.

... and, of course, the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L non IS, and the 300mm f/4 L IS, and several other Canon primes that might be handy.
The 70-200mm L zooms are particularly good optically and mechanically (fast focusing). If you want something for the wider end, I'd go with the 28-135mm IS myself. Nice overlap for when you have no time to change lenses, but wide enough to take in a "normal" perspective as well.
Funnily enough, they're two of the lenses that I actually own... :D
