went to the Audubon center @ ipswich river on a cold and damp sunday afternoon w/ the family, and there was a woman giving a talk/presentation on various owls. this was by far my easiest attempt to be so close to these magnificent birds, and i shot from my seat using my new 70-200 f/2.8 IS; the yellow canopy of the tent was a bit unfortunate and gave a yellow-ish cast on most things (esp. the snowy owl) which my white balance correction tries couldn't remove. anyway, here are some, C&C if you'd like.

#1 great horned owl:

Very nice set of owls Narlus. Some of these I have never seen and your pics are better than what my book has. :)

thanks canonloader! the eagle owl (europe/africa) and spectacled owl (south america) were the only non-native US ones. the feet/talons on the eagle owl were massive. pretty impressive display of birds all around. i was hoping to see a barn owl but no such luck.

Its great to see so many different owl species all under one roof! Since finding a family of Barred owls near our cottage our family has become very interested in learning more about them...they will be happy to see your great series of shots Narlus.

That's cool! I haven't heard of some those types of owls either. Nice photos. :D
