Amplifier for lenses... instead of pump up the volume, it's pump up the mm. Multiply the lens mm by the TC to get the end result.

They are adapters that fit between the lens and the camera body. They increase magnification. The two most common TCs are the 1.4X and the 2.0X. As the name implies, they multiply magnification either 1.4 times or 2.0 times. Example 100mm with a 1.4X extender equals 140mm.
Canon TCs will only work with certain Canon telephoto lenses (primarily the L lenses). There are other makes that will work with non-L lenses.
It’s a cheap way to increase the power of your lens, although they will cost you 1to 2 full f/stops depending on the TC used. Also, image quality will suffer a little depending on the lens/TC combinations.

With the crop factor of 1.6 for the 300D, a 100mm becomes 160 mm. So does the TC of 1.4 make it 224 mm (100 * 1.6 * 1.4= 224 mm) or just 140mm. How does that work.
Thanks

You just add the TC factor into the equation. For example if you have the 200mm lens, on 300D/10D with 1.4 TC it will be 200x1.4x1.6=448mm.
