Hi I took this for a friend and her son, I used a 55mm f3.5, I know not a lot of people like the color in the b/w photos but I put some color in the flower to create a point of view.
any comments are welcome.

It took me awhile to find the color in the pic, probably because of the size of the pic. I love the composition of the b&w, nice job.
The color pic, I think needs to be cropped a bit more, there is something blue in teh background to her left that is distracting. I also think that her right arm should be lower it is not very flattering.
Keep it up, overall nice work. Thanks for posting!

There are really too many areas of the first picture that are blown out highlights. If you look at the histogram you can see that there are quite a few pixels piled up at the right margin. In other words, your picture is over-exposed. Checking the histogram during review would have shown you that the Highlight Alert was blinking over a significant portion of the picture. Shooting in RAW mode would have allowed an easy repair by reducing the exposure.
Ditto for the second picture, except that in that one there are also even more pixels stacked up in the shadow area (blocked up shadow areas). Again, shooting RAW would allow easy fix up. When you post in Critique Corner it would always be a good idea to include the EXIF data. Saving for the Web removes the EXIF data. We would know more about your camera settings if we had the EXIF data.

yea both are overexposed.
The first needs a lot of the top cropped off but other than the blown whites the second is awesome.
Id go totally b&w on it as the flower is too small to pop on its own in color unless it was poster size.

Thanks for your comments, Im learning so much with your opinions. In the first one I wanted to capture of course the girl but also the atmosphere and all that green area, Im gonna work in the crop and yes Im completely with you about the exposure.
