Have Canon Digital IXUS 65 and use to photograph scientific slide presentations (eg made with PowerPoint) in large convention halls which are usually semi-darkend. Results are mixed and often end up with blurred and unreadable images of the slides. Settings are without flash and variously, auto, night or indoor, with night and indoor less good than auto. With size of convention halls usually have to go full zoom. Any tips on how to obtain better quality would be highly appreciated.

use a tripod....And/or set the camera to the highest ISO setting . . . Chimp the exposure so you're exposing the slides right even if they don't fill your frame.
