Thanks for gushing feedback. You're right Kelvin, Hoi An really is a very photogenic place and just a fantastic place to hang-out.
I actually set out to take another shot entirely, stepped back to widen my view, and noticed the bike against the wall behind me. So always look behind you.:)
Here's the original colour pic - with very pleasing pastels

the original is equally as great but the contrast gives it a lot more depth and richness

Thanks for the feedback. I agree both work very well.
I have the colour one printed and framed at home. Here's a slightly different tone and framed version of the b&w. Feedback welcome.
ps. If travelling in Vietnam it's worthwhile getting your favourite photos printed while you're there. I had 20 shots printed at 60cmx40cm at a local photo shop in Hanoi and they were excellent (they send them away for printing). All were printed on quality fujifilm paper and completely faithful in colour reproduction. Cost was around US$3 per print. Canon and others make their printers and inks in Vietnam. Canon have just built a brand new state-of-the-art printer manufacturing facility in Hanoi.

Throw some vigette in the corners for effect and see what you get.

All 3 versions are very nice. Maybe a little saturation boost in the color version to make the nice colors pop? Just my 2 cents.

I boosted the colours in this one but I think it loses the subdued pastel effect and tends to make the wall the focus - as opposed to a background - rather than the bike.
Do you agree ?
Myself, I'm now liking the slight sepia with the vignette best.

:D
that's one of the challenges of digital pp. when you have a great photo like this one and you can see so many possibilities, it's maddening to try and pick just one!

Hmmm yes the wall does seem to get more focus with the color boost. How much did you add? I thought it was not often you saw such nice colors it was a shame to mute them...just my 2 cents. All are still nice.

The wall colours seem to act much like a sunset does in providing an attractive canvas or backdrop for the main subject.
Thanks for the comments. I appreciate all the feedback and suggestions very much.
