I was out with one of the POTN members, Royce10 (Hung), and captured this little guy. This was cropped about 10%. We got pretty close to him; about 5 feet...I just love the red/orange circle around his eyes!

Looks to me like a little ringed plover, probably wrong but I like your shot.

Very nice shot Ben. I agree, a Plover of some sort, not sure which one though. We don't see a lot of them here.

Thank you Mitch. I have to credit Hung for this photo. Although, I've been to this area many times, but he introduced me a couple new spots for birds!

Very nice shot, by the way. The Killdeer is evenly lit, and the background composed very well for the photo.

Hiya Ben!
Woo hoo. Nice shot. I looked it up too and I agree its a Killdeer, which is a type of plover. LOL. Anyways, you nailed it with this shot. Also the black border makes it looks quite professional. We need to go shooting again soon.

Nice Light and clear shot, many times they stay in the longer grass and it is difficult to get a clear shot.

Thank you so much guys! He was quite brave as Hung and I was snapping away. It was awhile, after we stoped the shutters, before he flew away! He was posing for this shot alright.

It's definitely a killdeer. A pair of them used to nest near our house when we lived in Texas. Wish I had my camera and 400 lens back then.
