Hi
I was asked to take some shots of our sales team at work for a fun project the sales manager wanted. I had to rush to get the all done as I only had a very small time slot. This lead to some average shots but there were one or two good ones. This was also my first attempt using my new 430ex so was a little rusty on settings, etc, not that I'm trying to make excuses.
I had to take the shots against a boring beige wall but decided to replace the background at the pp stage. The sales manager wanted something a little cheesy so I plumbed for a blue affair.
Anyway, the best shot must have been Kimberly's. Some useful c&c would be much appreciated to help me learn . Thanks very much.

Edges are a bit too sharp. Perhaps a blur tool?

Lighting is too harsh, doesn't match the background, there are visible shadows on her neck, and the overall image appears flat. Bounce lighting would have been a major improvement here. :)

^^agreed...
She let you post her pic here? Sounds like this is an in-house kinda thing; for work. I dont know if you should be posting it without permission.. just seems like invasion.

nice shot. i kinda think the eyes are a little too centered on the photo. do you have one with an original bg so we could see that as well?

She reminds of Claire from Heroes haha. But yeah, I'm not sure blue is the best option for background choice, it reminds me of one of those blue screens people use for special effects on TV.

Just looked at my thread at work and I agree with comments above, its very harsh. But on my calibrated monitor at home it looks nowhere near as bright as on here. Now I'm beginning to wonder whether its calibrated properly although I would expect it to be being a Spyder!!!

She's got a great smile but IMHO, you've goot too much space above her head, the blue is a little harsh and not enough lighting contrast.
I would agree with bouncing the light and maybe a home made reflector to get rid of the hard shadow under her chin.
Hope this helps.

I'd change the background to something that doesn't shout 'fake'. I think it could work if you went with a less contrasting color.

I don't want to appear rude, and I do appreciate everyones commets, but the background was supposed to be fake and garish, thats what he wanted.

Well, sorry...
It's not that the "blue" was cheesy, it's that it shows off your terrible (albeit, purposeful) masking. Changing the color to a more neutral earthtone would have helped the weak masking.
...you did ask for C&C. ;)

Here is the original with no pp, straight out of raw on default settings, as requested.
