Looks like you moved a bit with that 5.6 shot. It's blurry.

Ok I don't understand the question all this is new to me.
Camera used was a Xti Lens 50mm F/1.4 and I set the mode on AV and adjusted the Aperature on ea shot to see what difference it made Set at ISO 100
All pics taken in jpeg I'm unsure of how to slecet Raw and I don't have any good software to edit them as well just what came with the camera.
The wind was blowing quiet a bit so that may be why the 5.6 looked blurry or it could had been me....

The last one was f/5.6 at 1/25th second, a shutter speed likely a bit too slow to hand hold a 50 mm lens. People around here recommend using a shutter speed of 1/focal length for handholding without IS.
One chap said he even doubles that, so for a 50 mm lens, he would use 1/100 second and nothing slower.
Flower photography from my experience is tripod country; the depth of field at these large apertures is so shallow that any movement by the person holding the camera will change the point of focus enough to screw things up.
Can't advise you on setting to RAW on an XTi, but it should be in the Menu.
How do you like the 17/55? Most owners really like this lens; as I do.

Thanks for the advice on the focal length....
I like my 17-55 although I'm sure I hadn't begun to put the lens to it's full capabilities as I'm learning and trying to figure out different settings and really where to begin with what and move up from there.
Here are some more images taken this evening as well.

I use M all the time almost, its a great mode to learn in. However, depending on what you are trying to achieve I use Tv and Av a lot when I don't have the time to set all the settings or I just don't feel like it.
Love the shots of the Wallaby. I take it he/she is your pet? How big do they get? And, I second the not cutting of the legs comment. :D
