ok A 80 will be here wensday, so after 2 weeks of using your new a80 what are the 2 most needed items? and could you tell me what the deference between a cf and a cf1 card is

As far as I know, the speeds are what is different, there may be more things. But get a tripod and a LARGE capacity CF card.

Hi sammy41!

You asked about differences between CF and CF I cards -- actually they are designated specifically as CF Type I and Type II -- with the former being thinner and the latter being thicker.

Type II is the same size as Microdrive.

My G3 will handle both types and my S400 will only handle Type I.

Likely your A80 will only handle Type I also but check!

In case your next question is what brand is best -- I somehow picked-up that Ridata and SimpleTech are good brands and use both of them with the Ridata in the G3 and the SimpleTech in the S400 -- I keep them separate so as not to mess up the image count.

Seems like I have heard many stories of failure with the standard SanDisk line and even Lexar and also Viking but that is only recollection and I am sure many use those brands without problem.

I would also recommend going with 2 smaller size CF cards instead of 1 large under the concept of not having all your eggs in the same basket. let your shooting habits be the deciding factor for what THAT size is.

Another tip: Disable the (Default) AiAf feature when you set it up the first time -- focus will be better without it!
