You are of course assuming that Lexar, Sandisk et al or indeed the resellers are going to pass these cost reductions on to the consumer and not pocket them as increased profit…
You may well find that any price reductions we see are marginal at best.

I don't know about that. I paid over $300 for a Lexar 40X 512 meg card a year ago and I could buy one right now from Tigerdirect for $160. Those are Canadian prices and it seems that Lexar at least is passing the savings on. Really it only takes one manufacturer to reduce prices and then the whole industry has to follow suit of they lose market share.
In three years they'll be including 512 meg cards as prizes when you buy cornflakes! :D
