Here is my first time using RAW rather than JPG. After my first two concerts, I started learning what I could, as fast as I could. And since this is RAW, I can't play the, "I only have JPG so don't be too harsh card." ;)

This was a very fun show to attend and take pictures at. It was spread over 2 nights. The concept was to honor two of the most loved Grateful Dead albums. The first night, shown here, was a recreation of Workingmans Dead.

I hope to get some feedback and critique on this and the night 2 thread. I am finding all of your comments to be quite helpful. Thank you.

Very nice again.
On #3 the mic is a bit in the way.
#4 and 5 suffer from a distracting background // foreground
#6 & 7 could be cropped a bit.

I made my first $60,000 in concert photography with only jpegs so that excuse wouldn't fly with me anyway! :-) I like 'em but think you were robbed on the lighting.

I'm not sure what you mean by that. There was very little interesting lighting at this show, but since there were people coming and going all the time, I expected that.

I'ld guess that's what Dwight meant....
I have to agree there.

I have to agree there. Yup, exactly ... sometimes the neatest performances can be totally decimated visually because of poor lighting or set design ... those are the two things the casino does ultra well and I benefit.

I have to agree with you. Still, this was an interesting venue. The concerts were held in the atrium of the World Financial Center building acress from Ground Zero. The design of the building made the atrium acoustically nice and there were palm trees growing all over the place...of course in the exact lanes I wanted to take some shots from...lol.

When I recently covered The Tribute to Bruce Springsteen at Carnegie Hall, the lighting was very disappointing. I was surprised but again, lots of different acts coming and going for one song.

Nice work :D

Possibly a little flat for me, but nothing a little levels/curves & USM wouldn't fix.

Great composition and focus though.
