Upload pictures to ipod

Does anyone know if I can use the ipod camera connector for the video ipod and directly upload pictures from my Canon S2 IS to the ipod for storage ?

from what I've heard, it's possible, but.....upload time uses vast amounts of battery life and time.

But it was a year go when I was checking on this, so things might have changed with the video iPod model. (I have the photo, with 40 G). I've never used mine for storage - went with a Wolverine flashpac instead and have been pleased with the results.
