I've been working on getting better catchlights.... Here's one of my favorite little models... Emily.

I didn't do any PP to her eyes this time because I wanted to see how well I could get them straight out of camera... What d'ya think??
It's kind of hard to see on the smaller compressed files...

Taken in the shade with open sky beyond the building... Is it too dark or too contrasty on my coversion?

CC welcome and thanks for looking. :)

HAPPY FRIDAY!!

Looks like you did a great job to me! The eyes look great. However, it might look better without the horizontal and vertical (grids? from a window) lines on the left side of her head. Other than that, the skin tones and contrast look great in the conversion.

Cute kiddo, too!

i agree - the eyes look great. still dark, but enough catchlight to draw attention. nice work!

THanks for this... I was so busy looking at the eyes, that I didn't look at anything else.. there are a lot of lines going on behind her.. darn it... I always do something dumb like that... Anyway, I can clone the lines and then do a blur on the background.. that will work... I didn't do anything to this one except contrast, crop and convert... I'll edit it this weekend and will probably enhance things a bit...

Thanks! :) So do you think I should lighten it up just a bit more?? IT was in the shade and I had my shutter at 1/200 and ISO at100... I should have bumped something to get a better exposure in camera... But I'm still learning and so it goes.....

I don't mind the grid lines at all, Kristy. I love your B&W conversion, too. Nice job on the eyes.

Thanks Char.. :) You're setting the bar lately. :)

Awww.. Maureen.. you're so kind.. :) I actually did most of this in Raw Shooter's Essentials.... messed around with the highlight and shadow sliders until I liked the contrast... In PS, I added a warm tone because I like it a little warm, and applied USM... She's pretty serious here.. "come on mom, enough already......" but something about it I love... except that she doesn't look like a 7-year old... but that's just her... we are in BIG trouble....

very good conversion and contrast. good job on black and white photo. Thank you Roman... :) I appreciate you taking the time to comment on this one. :)
