Spectacular shot. Assume your location was a bit better than the "cheap seats"

just a bit, about 8 feet from the edge of the track and elevated in a corner workers stand!

Sweet! I usually get to hike through the "cow patties" to get to a remote fence close to the track

Great! I love the colors and the texture of the leather. Your first race, right? Can't wait to see some after you've had some more practice! :D

Actually, Ive got some crash pics that are killer, but the guy that got me the media credentials has the rights to them for the next issue of his magazine. It was part of the deal getting the credentials. However, if he doesnt use them I will post them!..(however, I am hoping he does!!)

If anyone is interested, the photo is of Steve Rapp (#5), from Team Valvoline Emgo Suzuki/ Team Hammer Racing.
The bike looks like one of their GSXR-1000 Suzukis, used in the Formula Extreme and Superbike classes. The bike makes 197 hp @ 12,500 rpm and 87 ft/lb torque@ 8,500 rpm measured at the rear wheel , and weighs in at 372 lb with a full load of fuel and oil. Top speed is 192 mph. It's a lot of bike to handle.

That's right G3. How did you know all of that info. Sounds like we have the same interests. Bonus points if you can name the track. Hint, the newest track on the circuit.

G3, the best thing about the pic is if you look really close at the tank, you can see where they painted over the Suzuki decal. Its right in from of the new one, like a ghost. That 1ds resolution is the bomb. Ofcourse the photographer had a little to do with it :D :D :D

By the way G3, what do you ride? I have an RC51, CBR900RR, GSXR600, XR200R and an XR500R. Do you race?

My guess would be Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, Al.
My last year of RoadRacing was 2002. I was racing a Suzuki GSXR750 (B Superbike) in WERA.
I'm thinking about going back next year and doing some racing in LightWeight Twins on a Suzuki SV650. I need to step down a class or two...I'm getting too old for the 165-170 mph straightaway speeds. I crashed out hard at VIR in turn 3 ...took too long for the broken stuff to heal this time. I Need something a little more sane....maybe even Supermotard?
I don't ride on the street at all anymore...too dangerous. I was riding a 2001 GSXR1000, but I sold it last year.

That's crazy! I didn't even notice the old decal until you said it was there. Now I can't look at that area of the photo without seeing it. Odd how your eyes and mind work together...

You should see this thing at full res/actual pixels. Anyway, G3 have you been to North Florida Motorsports Park? Great new track at the Florida line and 75. Here is the link. http://jenningsgp.com/

Yep. Great track. It's fast and smooth, but flat...no banking in the corners... and a LOT of bugs (little tiny gnat thingies). There are a couple of corners on that track where you really have to trust your tires...it looks like you're going to run off, but then the track will come back under you if you are in the right position...fun track. It's a little like Talladega GPR...I think Ed Bargy actually designed both tracks. It's easy to get greedy and end up high-siding yourself to the moon.
