The highland village of Newton on the shores of loch Fyne, Argyle. On the west coast of Scotland.
10D, 17-40L, CPL. Photoshop for levels, slight USM and small amount of cloning to remove some debris.

It is a beautiful shot. My Grandmother's family traces back to Aberdeen, so I would love to visit Scotland some day. My only problem with the photo is that my eyes focus too much on the brown patch in the foreground. If you could take a few steps forward and eliminate some of that brown patch, would that change the rest of the photo too much? I don't think it should be removed completely, because I like the feeling of different levels. The brown foreground, then upwards to the buildings, then the mountains, then the sky. Very nice!

I was kind of thinking the same thing

Very good photo, but I agree with others that the brown in the front is too much. Try some crop to eliminate it.
What sort of CPL do you use? It seems to be very good to produce a strong effect like this.

Yes, it is much better. As you have three distinct sections in the photo (brown foreground, house area, and sky), it looks much better (in my opinion) if the three are relatively the same size. You accomplished this by cropping here. Three equal sections. Looks good!

I used a Hoya 77mm on the 17-40L. As you can see from the shadow the sun is almost at right angles to the line of sight therefore the strongest effect. Also I increase the colour saturation slightly before printing, and stupidly posted this image after printing.
