thx alot guys, I was shooting w/ a 17-85mm is usm lens. looking for a 24-105mm L f/4 if anyone's interested in selling one though! ;)

really nice shots. the lighting (both ambient and strobe) looks great to me.

i think you need to move the strobe without the softbox back more in #4 and 5. You can see the lens flare from the lights and it kills the picture. i would also have liked to see you use a reflector to get rid of some of the harsh shadows. I think you were going for that kinda look, but when you cant tell where his black pants end and the background begins...a little bounced light to accent that single pant leg would work wonders. aslo if you know how to do that HDR look, these pictures would look great in HDR.

They look great. I really like the low angle on the shot with the guy sitting on the car.
