Which type?

As the title says, which computer and operating system do you use? And please tell why.

For me, i have been using Windows for a few years, but now am transferring to MAc in a few weeks for college.

Windows BUT I'm buying a Mac soon.
I have used Linux but have not been all that impressed save for when I use it as a server.

Windows, because I've been using it for years and I'm just now starting to understand how it works! :-P

I would hate to buy a Mac and then start all over trying to figure out the OS and how everything meshes together.

Same here.

Plus I believe in open systems. That's why there is is a whole lot more variety in hardware and software available for the PC than for the Mac. I have yet to find anything the PC can't do but the Mac can.

PX and Vista. I use this Enviroment because I know its arhitecture, and exactly how it works.

However, when I went Digital with DSLR, I went from a Technician level, to a mere User level. I no longer care about the machine, I just want CS2 to work without a glitch.

So I am thinking about getting an Apple Computer (leaving one Windows device), so that I can use CS3 (Will purchase with the new system), and also Final Cut Pro. Those two Suites make the expense worth it.

But by far, I am more comfortable on Windows.

Windows XP. I've been using a pc since the days of dos, and have used every version of Windows since the beginning (will not get Vista unless its a new machine). I do have to admit that my current machine is getting a little outdated, and I'm toying with the idea of an iMac, which I'd set up strictly as my photo machine, without all the extra garbage I've got on my pc.

All three, though I'm only using my Windows PC at the moment. Linux I don't really have much of a use for except when I'm bored and my Powerbook is out of action at the moment. Damn crappy power supplies.
