Well, finally managed to get my finances sorted enough to start my home studio build. I started it last Sunday (Week Ago) The dimensions of the studio are 12 foot across, 18 foot long and has a ceiling hight of 8 foot. Basically modeled on my kitchen.
Started off by clearing my yard which has stuff I'd forgot I had. Quite embarressed for sure. I knocked down an old shed we had and found this lot inside.

As you can see I also had a little fire (Mainly for said shed) and also managed to clear quite a lot of old boxes which I keep incase something needs to be returned.
I managed to find someone that could remove the rubbish and take it to a proper place and not throw it at the road side. Once cleared it looked like this:

My mates again helping with the floor and posts. We managed to get the floor almost finished but have now run out of wood for the stud walls. So far really pleased with hows its going because we only started building this morning and have got this far.
Will update each day as the build continues. Hope you enjoy :D

Todays Work Update:
http://www.static-thought.com/studio/12.jpg
We finally got the stud walls finished then made a start on the roofing. We used Marine Ply for that.
http://www.static-thought.com/studio/13.jpg
Time for some food and drink. My mate Addy seemed to enjoy being on the roof as it took us 2 hours to get him back down lol. Also as you can see we started ship lapping the side.
http://www.static-thought.com/studio/14.jpg
Roof completely on and further along with the ship lap on the sides. We ran out of nails to continue further on the side but am hoping to get all 4 sides pretty much done tomorrow once we have more nails. Also should be able to felt and seal the roof off.
Anyways, Another busy day with good results :D

All the shiplap finished..

The doorway with the felt waiting for the sofet board and also the rest of the felt and bitumen.

Interior looking more like a garden shed atm than a studio.
http://www.static-thought.com/studio/19.jpg
My first ever flat roof attempt, This bugger is more sealed than the ark
I am going to finish the roof in the morning and then get started on the interior. I have never ached soo much in my life. Tan got stuck in today with nailing everything that looked like timber, even got her nailing the felt down as I sealed it
Anyways, another busy day over with and really pleased with the results so far.

Plan on putting any A/C in that bad boy? I don't know what the climate is like over there, but over here during the summer, that thing could double for a torture chamber. (Meaning it would be as hot as an oven!) :p

I have some vents to go in and also some fans. AC here is quite expensive as its considered a luxury  Thouhg as it is its pretty cool inside and thats with the afternoon sun but once its lined I am sure things will certainly hot up

Long awaitied update. Basically ran out of funds for a couple of weeks lol. Anyways heres where we are at as of this morning:

http://www.static-thought.com/studio/22.jpg
Started with the Plasterboard (Sheetrock to the USA dudes )
http://www.static-thought.com/studio/23.jpg
Decided the cheapest option would be for me to artex the walls. A Little 70's & 80's I know but cheap and covers the walls.

http://www.static-thought.com/studio/26.jpg
http://www.static-thought.com/studio/27.jpg
http://www.static-thought.com/studio/25.jpg
Also got all the electrics in, along with 14 sockets and 2 flourecent lights (Soon the tubes are being replced with daylight balanced items)
Colour balance went to pot because of the light tubes and also the artex is still wet pretty much all over hence the weird colour effects

Also put up an outside lamp above the door

http://www.static-thought.com/studio/30.jpg
Ventilation also helps :D
So thats where we right now, next step is to get the ceiling done and then start laying the laminated flooring. As before I have gone the cheap route and am using the self adhesive planks. They look good when down but can be easily replaced if they get damaged.
So far this project has cost £1900.00 plus a few pennies. Hoping to have it finished within the next 3 or 4 days. Will post more updates when they happen.

Well the actual shooting area is now complete (Minus the backdrop) I started painting about 2 days ago at 3 in the morning, also moved some of my gear from the house into the studio:
http://www.static-thought.com/studio/31.jpg
Then got the laminate floor laid and started to position my gear. Also got my softbox's built:

Random shot of some of my lighting

This is what happens when you let your virtually toothless mate near the softbox construction area, almost gave me a cardiac arrest
http://www.static-thought.com/studio/36.jpg
Just need to lay some carpet at the other end then I can move the lighting back some to gain some more space. Really pleased with how things are coming together. Will post more updates as they happen :D :D

Thanks :D
I have an Interfit rail (Pictured but not fitted yet. You can just see in the 2nd pic) that I am going to use for the bd's. But will see how this performs before looking at other options. Plus I dont have any BD's yet  :D

Finally managed to find some Daylight balanced tubes for my Flouresent lights, got them from WF Electrical and the amazing part is that they were only £1.37 plus VAT each  Massive difference as well. I get the carpet tomorrow and then will get my workstation area done and its then fully operational :D
