Please answer one of the above.
Then post what you think are some of the most useless polls you have seen or thought of in this forum.
Hopefully this will stop the wave of useless polls out there.
Take it away !!...

I was gonna vote for neither but then the sour cream eating space monkey instructed me to go with the first choice

I don't know if it was a poll or not but there was some mind numbing thread about excersise music going on. Seriously. Who could make that crap up?

There are some sick people in this forum, I did read the exercise one. Shame on that guy.
And I do not know why they post the thread, while the OP is still working on the Poll.

Though I like Polls, I do not really like the useless ones.
Now this sounds like we're passing judgement. But in my case at least, I am calmly protesting the "I found 50 bucks on the driveway, what should I do?:
Poll:
- Box of Twinkies
- 5D from -1 feedback Ebay seller.
- 8 Terabyte CF Card? "
(There is always an impossible Poll option, completely unrealistic).

Poles are good when you have dancers on them.
I voted choice 3 incase anyone wondered.

Polls by someone asking "what to get" really don't serve the OP at all.
A large enough poll may result in an "average" opinion, but how many people fit the "average" profile?
For example, I'm not interested in animal/bird photography - if I asked everyone what I should get next (and they actually looked at my gear list) it's quite likely that a very common recommendation would be a long tele lens - in the range of 300 or 400 mm.
The chance of this happening is nil to small.

Here is a short list of mine:
- Poll: Canon vs Nikon vs 3rd Party (Posted at Canon's Digital Forums)
- Poll: 28-70L vs 24-105L (Which to buy?)
- Poll: Shopping Place : BH or Dakrooks from Ebay?
Personally, I think Polls are intended to identify trends. Good Polls are, for example:
- Anyone that owned a bigma: Who still has it, who sold it, and why
- Who goes to another Photography site, besides for this one
- Who thinks mjgravina should be banned from the forums due to 'medical reasons' ?
Anyhow, hopefully this useless thread will be the end all other useless threads out there.

Ever since the fall of the Berlin Wall, Poland has emerged as a great nation, brimming with history, knowledge and vision. We should all stand up and give the Poles a round of applause for coming so far in such a short amount of time since the end of the Cold War.
Calling them useless is absurd. I take offense to this thread and ask, no demand it be closed and deleted immediately!
*In reality, I have been seeing an exorbitant amount of polls cropping up recently. I hereby abstain from voting due to personal/professional conflicts of interest. Thank you. :D

Any one lens vs. another lens poll is useless to me. Only you can decide if a particular lens is going to meet your need.

The best gear polls are one that are thought through and specific, i.e. they include people who have owned the item and exclude a**holes who haven't but yet feel an urge to 'contribute'.
For example: 'I am concerned about some reports of back focus issues with the Tokina 400mm 2.8, would owners or regular uses of that lens comment'.
1. I own it but have no issues and love it
2. I own it and returned it as faulty, avoid
3. I own it and had a focus problem but now is fixed and I likee
The replies then include ' Yeah man, I heard that at 'Gearhead on the Net' and them Tokisnas suck. My 24-70mm 2.8L hasn't left my camera. You should buy one of them innit!'

I'd go for the Canon Dave, it's white, got a red ring round the end, the red letter 'L' somewhere about it's person, and It'll hold it's resale value better for when you sell it to buy something else (again :p )
I'm outa here...

I know! We use to make fun and call other things "pole smoking"... so I sometimes forget the original sense! :p... Now, let's go back to this pole, I mean poll, shall we? ;) No need to take advantage of this thread and enlarge, I mean increase, our post c..., I mean count!

JOHN MADDEN'S VOICE:
"Here is a thread that started pretty well (makes squigly line over the first few posts), and then gets blitzed by a few interesting remarks. Though the gam-gam-game on wo-words is really cute, I don't think these guys realized they'd be walking up to such a turn of events!!.. It's like when (another circle above the last posts) the football gets tossed, then the toss is up for grabs, which means any player can grab the toss (chuckles).. A real deucy over here"
