Just was visiting the Canon USA web site and noticed an announcement from 4 Jun that Canon is apparently moving their US HQ to Melville, NY.
Why me... Up until about a month ago I was visiting there about once every three months, I had already noticed Phase one (as in MF backs) has a HQ there and last trip I noticed that Nikon has a HQ centered there and now Canon is moving into that location. It seems to be becoming a sensor center for the US as the AF sensor I was working with is up that way as well (the reason I was visiting frequently). That is a lot of Camera power in that area.

Now I recognize Canon is not just about cameras, but with Phase, Nikon, and some others, with Canon going in there, wow.

just had to share.

Interesting. Doesn't Kodak have some facilities around there as well?

It was not until after I posted this that I noticed they already had been nearby, but it is still right there all together at one exit off the L.I.E. within a block or two of each other.
I think Kodak has a small lab near there, but the HQ I think is still Rochester, NY (other side of the state)

(other side of the state)Be careful, Tim. You're going to agitate the conspiracy theorists.

What conspiracy, just because at least 4 digital camera/back companies are all loated within a block of eash other :)

Not to mention that at least two government sensor makers are also nearby.

Definately not a conspiracy :)

On the other hand, the "foriegn" companies may be trying to take advantage of the government labs in the area. Nah, that would never happen

Maybe they're consolidating because there's a merger coming.

Introducing the all-new CanNikPent 40D!
