Hello, i have a costume party coming up and it is a great chance for me to practice shooting some photographs.
If i wear the whole photographer vest they will expect perfect photographs from me but I am only new to the field so i rather not do that.
Does anyone have any great suggestions on what to go as while taking photographs?
Thanks in advance.
:)

If you're worried about their expectations, ham it up with a few (make your own) press passes sprinkled around here and there. Then fire off the flash randomly so they think you're taking lots of pictures.

A camera? Roll of film? Photo album?
Or maybe a court jester if you want to make people smile and not take you too seriously. ;)

Get an old hat with a headband...and stick a notecard in the band that says "PRESS" scrawled in your finest sloppy handwriting.

what about one of those old time reporters.. the ones you see in those black and white movies?.. black suit, funny hat camera around your neck... could be entertaining.

See if you can find yourself an old Speed Graphic and some flash bulbs. :) Put that with an old suit and tie, a fedora with a press card in the band, and you'll be set.

The best creative costume I have ever seen was a guy wearing a blue sweat suit with an electrical cord wrapped around his waist tied to a rubber chicken....he was....wait....get ready......
Chicken Cord on Blue!!!!!!!!!!! I STILL LOVE THAT IDEA! :)

How about a Canon costume made from boxes, tubes, & imagination.
Upper torso and head = flash unit (EX 580, of course)
Lower torso = Canon camera (1DS Mark III or same as what you own)
Don't forget a long, white L-series lens!

some great and funny ideas here, keep it up.
Press pass sounds good on top of what ever im wearing. How about taking one of them RED LIGHT CAMERA ENFORCED signs on me and going as a red light camera box. Might be abit too much.

Well the party is over, i went into the costume shop and found a cool FBI vest with lots of pockets.
I decided to go with that carrying my memory cards, spare battery, cloth etc in the pockets along with my fake gun and plastic knife.
Note FBI isnt in australia so it is ok.
I was using Tv Mode most of the night but decided to go with AUTO setting because i werent sure on what settings to use.
After looking at the photographs, all the AUTO ones were better =(
