I'm going to be getting a Macbook Pro soon, and i'm trying to decide on which hard drive i want to get with it. Within my budget, i have 2 options, the 160 GB 5400 RPM, or the 200 GB 4200 RPM. Now i know the speeds are important, which is why i'm asking the question. I would love to have the 200 GB one, but the 4200 RPM as opposed to the 5400 RPM throws me, i don't know which one to get. And another thing, what's the largest hard drive that the Macbook Pro accepts?

Go for the speed first. You can always get an external drive to store your data (pictures). I have a 160GB drive for my OS and Data (not including pictures). Currently it has about 25GB used. I have a completely seperate drive for my photos. Granted this is on a desktop, but I would do the same if my laptop was my primary computer.

go for the 5400...later on, you can get a network attached external (assuming you'll use the new Airport Extreme at some point) to store your stuff. I have a 500GB of the latter and I use it to immediately dump the contents of my CF cards to it. Works good. Lasts a long time. ;)
