Can someone point out the main differences between the two, and if the extra money for the N is worth it?

There are various threads but main differences are
bigger LCD
bigger buffer
picture styles
EDIT: I decided the extra money was worth it 6 months ago because it meant I got a new body and warranty (which I had to use)

You can shoot raw to 1 card and jpeg to the other at the same time, great;)

I own a MkII and have shot a friend's N on several occasion. Here are my thoughts. The bigger LCD is probably the best thing especially for navigating the menus. A bigger buffer is nice but I have only filled the buffer on my MkII a couple of times. IMHO picture styles are not worth considering, heck I don't even use them on my SD450 much less a Pro DSLR. The ability to write JPG to one card and RAW to the other sounds nice but why? If I am shooting RAW its because I want extra post processing control before I save a file as jpg. If I want to be able to hand off my photos quickly with out processing then I shoot JPG. I have never really been in a situation where I needed both.
The bottom line is either camera will serve you will. If there is less than $2-300.00 difference between the two cameras then I would go for the N. More than that I really don't think its worth it.
Just my .02
