Hitachi 4GB micro drive is very, very, very, very slow in a 10D or 300D. Lots of pictures, yes, and as long as you also have lots of time... it's fine.

I have been trying to get my hands on a Muvo since December of 2003.

It simply can't be doone.
I had ordered one from Buy.com,.. Creative labs,. and Amazon .. and have yet to see one.

But.. some day.. if this product ever is in stock anywhere.. I will get one... I figure 4 gigs is just about right to equal the battery life on the MkII... :)

I ordered & received my Muvo from Amazon. Ripped it apart and it works great... It's great to keep in the bag. You never know when you'll need some space..

I'll second that. I picked one up a month ago and use it in my DReb and it works great. Slower then CF but NOT so much so that it's frequently noticeable. I can fit 560 RAW pics on it and over 1,200 Large Fine JPG's. I replaced the 4Gig with a 512 in the Muvo and now have a nice sized, 10 CD, MP3 player. All this for $199. Go for it!

When I first started using the 4GB card, I formatted it in-camera. The access speed was horrible and so was the reliability (a few times the camera would keep resetting itself after a picture, and I had several corrupted files).

Then I learned that HOW you format the CF card can make a BIG difference. I heard that people were having excellent results when formatting the card while in a CF reader on the PC, using the settings of FAT32 and 32k clusters.

I recently tried this and the difference is tremendous! MUCH faster access/writes and so far no corrupted files or resetting camera.

If you haven't already heard or done so, I strongly recommend trying this.

Good luck.

I have formatted both ways and frankly have not noticed the difference. I may check it once again to make sure. Thanks for the tip.

i ordered one from jandr.com it was backordered but came fairly quickly. i also got one from ebay.

i bought the ebay one first and the day it came in, i got one i ordered from jandr as well. i forgot to cancel my order with them.

it is slow but man the storage space is awesome. i like the freedom of being able to shoot a ton without fear of even getting close to maxing out the card...

Yup, the counter doesn't even budge below 999 until I took over 500 pictures (Large/Fine) :D

I looked at E-bay and now know why it is that normal people can't get these things.. there are pages of listings for both the entire unit.. and the left over parts after the drive was gtted from it... pages and pages... then you check the feedback of one of the guys sellig them.. and he's sold like 300 of these things!!!!!

Man.. the stores that get these should limit the number you can purchase!!! (like Newegg does) so that someone other than an E-bay re-seller can actually get a hold of one :(

Anyway.. I placed a bid..

But a low one so I doubt I'll get it :)

i never place bids too early... just go in and snipe them out at like 5 seconds left on the auction.... :)
