Has anyone out there got a Sigma 70-200 F/2.8 and one of those LowePro Slingshot AW100 bags? I was just wondering if it would fit in that bag... this is a pretty long lens.

i would doubt that it will fit in the slingshot 100AW
it barely fits in my slingshot 200 and doesnt fit at all when mounted on the camera body
best solution would be a sliplock lens case (im not sure which model number- your local camera shop should be able to help)

hmm - would be cool to get an actual answer to this from somebody who has the bag and the lens. i have the bag...and was wondering if i can fit my 100-400L (when it arrives)
i had a look at the 200 and it's too big for a casual walk around bag. (for me anyway)
if it doesn't fit, i'll just have to carry the lens in its bag separately.

I just got the 7 Million Dollar Home so I could travel with my Sigma 70-200. It won't fit in there mounted on the body, but fits nicely in one of the sides. Not sure what your best option would be if you wished to carry it on the camera body. You would probably be looking at one of the backpack models. I have a Ritz Camera brand bags which I use for storage, and it would have plenty of room -- but it's BIG.

The Kata H-14 is a shoulder carry 'holster' type of bag, that carries my 30D with my 70-200 mounted BUT I have to reverse the hood. The Kata is easily a walk around bag.

It might fit.
I have the Slingshot 200 and my XTi with attached Sigma 70-200 fits in the bag vertically with a tiny bit of room to spare.
I checked the specs of the bag on Lowepro's site. The 200 is 11.8 inches in height. The 100 is 9.8 inches. That's a 2 inch difference.
I'm at work now so I can't measure how much room is left in the bag, but judging from this pic, it might be 2 inches. I have a divider in the space between the lens and the bottom of the bag just to provide more cushion.

OK, looks like I will have to trade in the Slingshot 100 for the 200.
Thanks for the photo.

I got it to fit the same way on the Slingshot 100. The 20D body attached to the Sigma 70-200 vertically and there is still room for my Canon 17-85IS lens (just barely). Then the 430 EX and my extra battery go in the top compartment. I love this bag.
It might fit.

Take your camera and lens to the store and try out the bags. 70-200 f/2.8 mounted to my 20D with Grip will not fit into a Slingshot 200 unless you really do some funny configuring like the photo above. I got the Slingshot 300 for that reason. When I slide the bag around in front of me and open it, I simply reach in with me right hand which goes into the grip strap and pull out he camera (the LCD is facing up when the bag is in front of me). When the lens is not on the camera, it is stored horizontally in the bag next to my body when bag is on my back.
For just carrying the lens on a body, the best bag is the Toploader zoom 75 AW.
Both these bags I have mentioned will also fit my body and an attached 100-400 if I had one of thoses lenses. Both these bags will also fit my camera, lens and 1.4x t-con attached, but not with the 2x t-con.
A 580EX flash will also fit in the front pocket of the Toploader zoom 75 AW. This bag comes with a shoulder strap and a chest harness, plus additional lens pouches may be attached to it or it may be incorporated intoa Street & Field belt and shoulder harness system--this rocks for active uses--you can still wear a back pack and/or hydro pack with this system.
