Does anyone know if the Photoshop CS for students and teachers version is the same piece of software as the regular version. My wife can obtain the student version for 288.00 ! I am highly motivated at this price.

I have the "Educational version" of Photoshop Elements 2 and the regular version as distributed with my 10d. They are the exact same.
Hope this helps

I think the education version can be had much cheaper than $288, so don't get too excited yet. Shop around a little. I got mine for $135 from a vendor on ebay. It was brand new, never registered/activated and still sealed. It works great. Just make sure that if you buy one from ebay or something that it has never been activated.

Check out gimp.org, price: free, sourcecode: open. Probably not all bells & whistles of Photoshop, but far more than most people will ever need, and quite intuitive to work with, specially if one already are familiar with photoshop and techniques as layers, masks etc.

Check at sprysoft.com. Current price for CS is $263.80. Some of the Adobe package deals have even more fantastic savings. You have to supply valid current academic ID. They are a reputable outfit and you won't be sorry dealing with them. And yes, the academic version is the same as the regular version.
